Light Guide Film (LGF) is a thin-film backlighting technology that directs light from side-emitting or right-angle LEDs to areas requiring backlighting.
The advantage of LGF is that the film can be made into almost any shape, providing consistent backlighting across one or more areas within the switch.

Although light directing film is more expensive than other backlight technologies (below), it has several advantages:
LGF is very thin so it can be integrated into membrane switches (i.e. small and light devices) that cannot exceed a certain thickness
LGF has limited impact on key feel.
The LGF can provide uniform backlighting of large and small areas, including applications where the light stays on when the switch is energized.

Light Guide Film or –Panel - smart and cost efficient light guiding The need for energy- and cost optimization with improved light distribtion is now possible through the Light Guide Films or -Panel. Reduce the number of LEDs while increasing the light appearance. Use the Light Guide Film (LGF) or Light Guide Panel (LGP) for Keypad or LCD backlighting.
